Measuring Productivity (cont.)
It is rare that any single measure of productivity — especially quantity measures — can suitably capture the true nature of work in today's office.
Here are some of the components of productivity measurement for knowledge workers:
- Quality of work produced
- Quantity of work produced
- Timeliness of work products submitted
- Timely and appropriate communication with managers and coworkers
- Timely and appropriate responses to e-mail, phone calls, and requests from managers and coworkers
- Written or verbal progress reports or reviews
- Ability to "juggle" multiple tasks simultaneously
